Frequently Asked Questions - smallTall Music Membership

3) What kind of permissions are included with the family/household membership?

4) What kind of permissions are included with the congregational/ institutional membership?

5) How do the songs "delivered" on the membership system compare to the songs recorded on smallTall Music studio albums?

6) I'm not good at "computer stuff" like downloading things from a Web site. Can I get paper/CD copies of your "deliveries" of new songs?

7) When, and how often, can I expect to receive deliveries of new "songs of faith for small and tall"?

[God's Mission] [Become a Member]

You can join a network of people who share smallTall Music's vision and want to support and participate in the creation, testing, and sharing of new "songs of faith for small and tall."

What is smallTall Music "Membership"?

Becoming a member of smallTall Music is like joining an organic food cooperative or CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm, where you pay an annual fee and receive regular deliveries of fresh, local, organic produce, throughout the growing season, straight from the producer.

When you become a member of smallTall Music, you pay an annual fee and receive regular deliveries of fresh, home-grown, organic music - new "songs of faith for small and tall" - straight from the producer, Bryan Moyer Suderman.

smallTall Music members receive 3 deliveries per year, with 4 new songs per delivery. Each song comes complete with:

  • Audio file (simple recording, usually voice and guitar)
  • Lyrics formatted for overhead projection
  • Music notation (where practical) and guitar chords
  • Brief written reflections
  • Ideas and suggestions for using the songs in different settings

Click here to view a sample delivery available for download.

In addition, once a year, members receive a bonus "special delivery" - the "smallTall Music Members' Jamboree" - made up entirely of songs that have been written and submitted by you, the members of smallTall Music.

How Does It Work?

All of this is delivered to you electronically via a password-protected "Members Only" page accessed from this Web site. Here's how it works:

  1. You become a member by filling out the Membership Form and sending it in with your payment.
  2. You will receive an e-mail four times per year telling you that your next "delivery" of songs is available for pick up, and giving you the user name and password for that delivery.
  3. You click on the link to visit the smallTall Music Web site and log in with your user name and password to access the "Members Only" page where the delivery is posted.
  4. Download the files to your computer, make your own print and CD copy of the songs, and start trying them out! (Paper/CD copies are also available directly from smallTall Music for an additional fee.)

What Kinds of Membership Are Available?

  1. Family/Household Membership
    Annual fee: $30 Cdn/US

If you are a single person, or a family, or a community of people living together under one roof as a household, this type of membership is for you.

For an important note regarding copyright permissions for family/household memberships, please click here.

  2. Congregational/Institutional Membership
    Annual Fee: $100 Cdn/US

If you are an individual congregation, school, camp, or other organization, then this type of membership is for you. In addition to the regular "deliveries" of songs and accompanying resources, congregational/institutional membership includes permission for your congregation/institution to copy and make ongoing use of all Bryan Moyer Suderman songs in each delivery (see "note on permissions" below).

For an important note regarding copyright permissions for congregational/institutional memberships, please click here.

  3. Denominational/Publisher Membership

A third type of membership is available for other entities (eg: denominational bodies, publishers, etc.) who may be interested. Please contact smallTall Music to initiate a conversation about this type of membership, including a description of the entity and the ways in which you are interested in using the songs.

How Can I Be Involved?

Membership in smallTall Music is much more than making a "consumer choice" to receive a certain kind of "product." Becoming a member of smallTall Music is an opportunity to be an active participant and partner in the process of creating, testing, and sharing new music for the church and for families of the church.

Members are invited to:

  • Use and enjoy the songs in different settings (see types of membership and notes on "Permissions" above).
  • Share feedback and ideas ("We used this song for... this one really worked with our group... this one not so much... when we used this song we adapted it this way... added this action... wrote this new verse...").
  • Give ideas/suggestions for new songs ("In our family/congregation we really need a song to sing when..."; "We're exploring this Scripture/theme, and could really use a song that would help us to...").
  • Write and share your own "songs of faith for small and tall", try them out in your own local community, and share them with other smallTall Music members via the annual "smallTall Music Members' Jamboree.".
  • Help spread the word about smallTall Music, the studio albums, the membership system, and these "songs of faith for small and tall".
  • Support this ministry in other ways - by praying, by sending a note and being in touch, by arranging for a Bryan Moyer Suderman visit to your community, by asking about current needs, sponsorship possibilities, and other ways to be involved.
